What's in a name?
We have been asked a few times how we came by our name Myton Law.
We are a Hull firm and proud of it. Having all worked in the area for a considerable number of years it was important to us to have a name that had a historical association with the Hull & Humber region. We also wanted a modern, dynamic name in keeping with our outlook and beliefs.
The town of Hull came into existence in the late 12th century when local monks built a quay at the junction of two rivers (the Hull and Humber) so that they could export wool from their estates. The town was originally called Wyke upon Hull. Wyke was land within an area belonging to the Hamlet of Myton. King Edward 1 acquired the port and town in 1293, renaming it Kingston (The King's Town).
Whilst our connection with the Hull & Humber ports region is important to us, the fact is that our client base and work extends much further afield. Indeed, much of our work has little to do with the immediate geographical area. Modern communications combined with the excellent transport links to the area mean that we can represent clients wherever they are and in respect of disputes wherever they arise. We also offer competitive fixed fees for undertaking investigations away from our area.
So we are Myton Law, a name which we hope will beconme synonmous with quality legal advice in all aspects of shipping, transport and insurance law whether related to the Hull & Humber region or elsewhere.
