Commission Directive 2010/36/EU
On 1 June 2010 the European Commission adopted Directive 2010/36/EU which amends Directive 2009/45/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on safety rules and standards for passenger ships.
This important Directive gives member states 1 year to bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with it.
The Directive applies to new and existing ships engaged on domestic voyages and covers maximum speeds, ship construction, navigational equipment and repair & survey requirements for certification purposes.
