Compensation (Limitation) Bill 2010 Update

The Compensation (Limitation) Bill is a Private Member’s Bill to prevent conditional fee agreement success fees and after the event insurance premiums being recoverable from the losing party in civil litigation. It is also a Bill to facilitate damages-based contingency fee agreements for successful litigants.

The Bill was presented to parliament for First Reading on 21 October 2010. The Second Reading debate is tabled for 18 March 2011.
