Humber green energy hub

Following Siemens’ news supply chain companies and other offshore wind energy suppliers are expected to locate manufacturing operations around the Humber.

General Electric is to invest £100 million in a wind turbine factory in the UK and will announce its preferred site soon.

Gamesa, the Spanish energy company, plans to make the UK the core of its worldwide offshore wind business. Gamesa has unveiled its plans to invest over 150 million euro through 2014 in the UK. Reportedly, it has short listed the Humber, Harwich and Tyneside for a production plant and is expected to make its decision by June this year.

Once established the offshore wind farms will need maintenance and renewal providing work well beyond 2020.
