Iain Butterworth

Iain has been a qualified lawyer since 2003. He became a director of Myton Law in April 2012.

Iain holds a unique position in the area of shipping and transport law, as prior to moving into the law he was an engineering officer in the Merchant Navy. He commenced as a cadet rising through the ranks to qualify as a Chief Engineer in 1996.

His combination of legal and technical experience has enabled him to provide invaluable assistance and advice to a wide range of clients and is certainly a unique selling point.

Iain undertakes a wide range of shipping casualty related cases and assists other members of the team where advice and assistance is required on practical and technical issues. His experience also lends itself to ship repair and mechanical damage claims and Iain has developed his reputation and caseload to include such cases, acting for insurers, owners and ship repair companies.
